The capital will have a flagship store like London, Paris, New York, Shanghai and Milan

Rome will have its own Apple ‘flagship store’: from next spring it will become part of the exclusive ‘club’ of the world’s cities that can boast the most spectacular shops of the Cupertino company, which are often also home to exhibitions, concerts, and other cultural activities for the public. A collaboration aimed at protecting cultural heritage, in the past, has also involved other stores such as the Apple Champs Eysées in Paris, the Apple Covent Garden in London and the Milanese Store in Piazza Della Libertà. The Roman project, which started in 2016, will be inaugurated next spring, inform the City of Rome and Apple. Curated by the English architect Norman Foster, it is located in Palazzo Marignani, Via del Corso, and will be a world-renowned ‘flagship’, says the Californian company. The renovation of the headquarters was carried out in partnership with the City of Rome, the Fine Arts Superintendence and the ownership of the historic building, of the Allianz Group. The opening of the Apple Store in Via del Corso provides for the hiring of 120 people, while one of the Capitoline shops on the outskirts of the city, the one located in the RomaEst shopping center, will be closed. The employees of this business – assures Apple – will be relocated to the other stores in Rome, without loss of jobs.
