You probably hear the phrase “Follow your dreams” more often than see people actually acting upon it. It is easier said than done. Life can be so fast and complex that people rather live each day as it comes, and opt for comfort over effort.
Matthew Gallagher’s life’s pursuit to chase his dreams and make them his reality is a motivation for all those who lack the confidence or the energy to achieve their dreams. Life sometimes gives you enough and you get so consumed in it, that you tend to forget your dreams. Taking risks seems like an impossible task and many would avoid it out of sheer laziness.
That was not the case with Matthew. He followed his goals and achieved all that he desired as a child, emerging as a successful entrepreneur. The dreams he set for himself were seen at a time when he was battling with the worst period of his life, being homeless and having parents battling addiction. At such a chaotic phase, his dream to escape seemed impossible enough to achieve, being successful and living a legacy was pure insanity.
Life took Matthew from trailer parks to gaining his education and learning programming. He mastered computer skills which helped him escape the poverty-stricken life and helped him achieve the stability he desired all his life. However, that was not his dream. His dream was to leave behind a legacy, a life he was proud of. This led him to leave the work many thought he was comfortable doing, and ventured into creating the world’s largest watch club, Watch Gang, a community of watch lovers that has rapidly evolved into a family of over 1.8 million members.
Matthew’s pursuit of his life goals inspires others and gives hope that attaining your true calling in life can be possible even after excelling in various professions. It is not mandatory that you enjoy what you are good at, or what gives you a stable meal. And when you are motivated enough to venture into something new that has an equal chance of failure and success, then you are nothing short of a daredevil, who is bound to succeed.
Matthew’s success journey is truly inspirational and an eye-opener for all those who have long forgotten their dreams and been consumed by the monotonous state of modern-day affairs.
