When you ask people what they think of stay-at-home moms, you receive a variety of viewpoints on mothers who stay at home to raise their children.
Stay-at-home moms are becoming more common. We no longer live in a world of ‘Leave It to Beaver,’ when 49 percent of women were stay-at-home moms with a working partner in 1967.
According to a 2014 Pew Research report, the number of women becoming stay-at-home moms has increased. While 71% of mothers work outside the house, 29% stay at home with their children. This figure has increased by 6% since 1999.
One such stay-at-home mom is Megan Marie Komosa. Megan is a 33 years old mother at two who is a successful stay-at-home mom and a housewife. Megan recognized herself to the world as a social media mom who shares valuable content to support other stay-at-home moms and housewives.
The path Megan took wasn’t easy for her. She struggled with the issues of being a new mother, feeling unproductive, bored at home, and lost in the journey of finding a distinctive purpose for herself.
As a business graduate, Megan always had an entrepreneurial side of her personality. When postpartum depression, loneliness, and boredom became overwhelming, her creative side kicked in, and Megan decided to utilize the power of social media.
What started with a video diary of Megan’s journey has become a massive community of thousands of stay-at-home moms and housewives who love and admire Megan for her content.
Contrary to the popular yet appalling beliefs that stay-at-home moms are slackers, can’t decide between career and family, and aren’t contributing to society in any way, Megan made all the stay-at-home moms feel appreciated, loved, and accepted. She found a tribe of women who are making significant sacrifices to stay at home and care for their children on a daily basis.
With a mission to connect with other women on the same path and empower them, Megan’s social media presence provides well-needed support and assurance to every millennial mother suffering from self-doubt and feeling lost in the journey of motherhood and managing a family.
Megan believes that stay-at-home mothers choose to focus on their god-given role as mom and wife and live the best life they can manage.
While talking about her social-media-mom role, Megan shares, “I love sharing my life with my social media community. I would love to show more about how much grind it takes to grow what my husband and I have. I think that can be really inspiring, but we are also keeping it real and not ashamed to share the highs and lows.”
