Jaro Cabla, a travel enthusiast, went through a similar phase in his life but overcame all such gloomy situations with enthusiasm, ultimately becoming one of the most inspiring travel vloggers and content creators today.
Born in the little town of Slany, Czech Republic, Jaro had to leave his hometown and migrate to Hawaii at a very young age. At first, the thought of moving caused him great distress. His parents’ desire to travel and learn English was the impetus behind this migration, which, in his words, “stripped me of what I was brought up to know, and now I was being thrown into the deep end.” Little did he know that Hawaii would be the starting point of his journey towards his dreams.
Moving to Hawaii at such a young age instilled in him a love of nature, giving him the perspective that the world is small and fueling his desire to explore it. From surfing across the tides to documenting oceans while skipping high school classes, Jaro was wholly immersed in his newfound passion. However, the harshness of reality set in, and he had to slow down.
Soon after, he realized that this passion would not pay him anything, so he decided to quit and began his search for a job. He worked in fields such as marketing, which expanded his knowledge and skills but never satisfied his thirst for the adventure he craved. Focusing on his career, he moved to Oregon and enrolled at George Fox University, located in the small town of Newberg. This conservative little town only heightened Jaro’s desire for the big world. It was the darkest time of his life.
“I was so strongly neglecting myself and what I wanted to realize out of my dreams and aspirations.” “I was internally dying and trying to stuff it down for the dream of dating a girl,” Jaro shares his memories of those hard times. He started dating a girl and moved to Vancouver. At first, it was all great – a steady relationship, a steady family – but his fizzling dreams were slowly killing him inside until, one day, he wasn’t able to endure any longer. He left everything, broke up with his girlfriend, and moved to California, where he had to sleep on his friend’s floor for two months before heading on to his grand pilgrimage – traveling around the world.
After selling his car, he went on his first backpacking trip in New Zealand, and from there, his dreams started coming true. Traveling alone, he explored different cultures, conquered several mountains, and skied down them too. He emerged from his ordeal more resilient and better equipped to follow his heart’s calling – to earn a living doing what he loves, and discover the meaning of life.
