John D Hickman is an American actor and a rising star in the Hollywood industry. Starting as a guest on True Blood, he has added several acting gigs to his ever-growing resume after winning a competition. From recurring roles in hit television series to working in indie films, John is navigating his way through the world of Hollywood with consistent success.
Like many aspiring actors, John did not have it easy when it came to his ambition to become an actor. With no experience or training, there was a slim chance of him landing roles. Add to that the pressure from his parents to begin working at the family-owned poultry farm and other responsibilities. John had to put his dream on hold, but it did not stop him from taking the first chance at making it a reality.
As mentioned before, John started acting by winning a role on the show True Blood. From there, he moved on to the popular television series The Vampire Diaries, playing the role of Mr. Fell, which gained quite a reputation with fans of the show as an important and recurring character.
In 2017, John quit his day job to take on acting full-time. After playing Mr. Fell, John switched to acting in movies. Soon he began to land several roles in big-budget movies. For his film roles, John is primarily known for appearing in The Vanished, Becky, and My Best Friend’s Christmas. Over the years, John has had the honor of working with several famous personalities in the Hollywood industry. Films starring John also include the horror/thriller Black Water Wilderness and faith-based drama The Fight Within, both of which were shot in his hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where he still resides.
Starting late in life hasn’t been a roadblock for John, and that’s obvious from the amount of work he is getting. In 2021 alone, he shot six films and worked with Bruce Willis on three films out of these six. He took a humble start but has successfully carved his way up, slowly yet steadily finding meaningful roles with the industry’s big shots.
Over the years, he has appeared in more than 40 movies and television shows, and with the projects he has lined up, John is well on his way to adding more amazing works to his ever-growing credentials working as an actor.
