We see and hear of many who aim to change the depraved things in society, but there are only a few who act upon such goals in practicality. The human rights activist from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Naida Mehanović, shows us that when the will to change society is strong enough, good things will follow naturally.
Hailing from a country wrecked by war and multiple sieges, Naida has shaped her career, business, and entire life around the wellbeing and prosperity of her homeland. Her lifelong mission of bringing good to her country is what led her to become a lawyer, an ambitious human rights activist, and a volunteer.
After graduating from one of the oldest universities in Bologna, Europe, Naida returned to her homeland and decided to pursue higher studies in her own country, where she enrolled in the Department of History and Law. Her love for the law was also born out of her passion for the homeland because she believed that by being a lawyer, she could help in the critical sectors of B&H and overcome the neglected legal regulations.
One thing that Naida puts a sheer emphasis on is volunteering. She has been an ambitious volunteer since she was 12 and considers the exercise to have an integral impact on personal development as well as on fellow natives in need. If there is one thing that can help a war-torn country, that is volunteering and helping the underprivileged around us.
The neglected real estate industry of Bosnia and Herzegovina was also sore sight for Naida. In the hope of making things better in the property world, she set up a real estate agency, ‘Primavera’ with the sole purpose of attracting foreign investors to B&H and familiarizing them with all of the country’s fascinations. The company quickly expanded and is now successfully solving the legal obstacles of thousands of nationals and foreigners.
Naida believes Bosnian youth to be the country’s future. Instead of leaving, she insists young individuals stay in the country and partake in bringing peace and prosperity to their homeland. Together, they can turn the tables and be victorious in this fight for human rights. Follow Naida on LinkedIn to learn more about the human rights struggle in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
