The 25 most read things on Wikipedia in 2019

Mostly movies and TV series, one singer and two politicians, at least in the English version of the online encyclopedia.

Wikimedia, the non-profit foundation that manages among other things Wikipedia, published a list of the most read things in 2019 on the English version of the online encyclopedia (there is no list of the most read things in Italian). Among the 25 most read things there are main pages of movies and TV series, with Avengers: Endgame in the first place, but there is also the last season of Game of Thrones, Joker and Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood. In the second place, as always, there’s the page with all the deaths of the year, followed by the one about the American serial killer Ted Bundy, whose story this year has been told both in a movie with Zach Efron and in a Netflix documentary.
The page about the Chernobyl disaster, due to the HBO series, and the one about Freddy Mercury, probably for the Bohemian Rhapsody movie, has also been very read. Among the pages related to the most read cases, there are the one on Jeffrey Epstein and the one on the rapper Nipsey Hussle. The first singer on the list is Billie Eilish, in ninth place, while the first politician is US President Donald Trump, in eighteenth place, followed by Democratic MP Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in twenty-fifth place.

The list was compiled by a Wikipedia user, Andrew G. West, who put together a set of raw data that Wikipedia makes available to everyone. The list did not take into account the main Wikipedia page, which is always the most visited page of the site, and pages that had less than 10 percent or more than 90 percent of traffic from mobile devices, which according to Wikipedia could be caused by the use of bots and some kind of error.
