Med Student Kumail Hussain Highlights the Importance of Waking Up Early And Why It Is Not Always Necessary

You have probably heard a lot of successful people utter, “If you win the morning, you win the day.” It is easier said than done. For most people waking up early, especially when it is still dark, is very difficult. And they most definitely despise all these early-rising cliches.

Kumail Hussain uses his medical knowledge to highlight the importance of waking up early. You probably don’t want to hear stuff like ‘Early bird gets the worm” but Kumails scientific knowledge and his ability to make interesting and thought-provoking content will make you think again about setting your alarm clock to 6 am. 

The Circadian Rhythm 

According to content creator Kumail, the human body has its own biological clock known as the Circadian Rhythm. The body takes signals from the surrounding in the shape of the light which produces energy-driven cortisol. On the other hand, low light settings produce melatonin in the brain which makes you naturally tired hence leading to sleep. 

Despite the role of the biological clock in sleep, Kumail still believes that being a night owl and altering your sleep pattern according to your needs is always doable. There is no set rule because many people are required to work at night and they necessarily do not have to be termed following an unhealthy lifestyle. 

For Kumail, what’s most important is following a set sleep pattern which means sleeping and waking up at the same time each day, so your body and brain are adjusted to it. “Your body loves a routine and it will love you for it. It loves to follow the same kind of routine every day and stay disciplined.”

Why does Kumail Wake Up Early?

Being a medical expert while understanding the intricacies of modern life, Kumail has weighed the pros and cons and shares why he wakes up early. “When I wake up early I feel like I have already won the day. Like I have already built a small victory into my day. I feel I have self-disciplined myself and do something that used to be so unpleasant. When you discipline yourself to do something like that it really does build character. It’s really my time and makes me feel like I’m totally in control of my life.”

Kumail hails from a Pakistani-American background and has a master’s in biomedical science. Along with that, he is pursuing medical education at Chicago Medical School. He jumped into the digital world during his first year of med school, a risk he took and succeeded. His honest desire to influence mindsets, inspire people to pursue dreams, and lead a productive lifestyle with science-backed knowledge and a dash of humor, sets him apart in the industry and is the reason behind his increasing success.
